We want to make you a star! We’re highlighting how online teachers are integrating and using technology in their classes! How do you use digital media in your classroom? How are you increasing student enthusiasm?

Submit your media to be included in the Online Teaching Conference’s first DIGITAL MEDIA SHOWCASE! Accepted media will have their projects viewed during the Online Teaching Conference. Deadline for entries is May 28th.

Thursday, June 14 Keynote:Yong Zhao

"When Distance Is Dead:
The Implications of Global and Open Education"
Yong Zhao
Yong Zhao is currently Presidential Chair and Associate Dean for Global Education, College of Education at the University of Oregon, where he also serves as the director of the Center for Advanced Technology in Education (CATE). He is a fellow of the International Academy for Education.

Yong Zhao will speak on issues related to globalization and education, creativity, global competitiveness, educational reforms, and educational technology. Topics include how education should focus on developing children’s strengths, not “fixing their deficiencies”, how education is much more than the addition of instruction of course content, especially in a number of limited subjects, and what makes a nation, a community strong is diversity of talents and creative citizens, among others.

"Confessions of a Reluctant Online Instructor"
Amelito Enriquez

Professor, Engineering and Mathematics, Cañada College

Amelito Enriquez is a longtime engineering and mathematics professor at Cañada College. Thanks to Amelito's hard work, Cañada College has received over $10 million dollars in grant monies.  These grants are helping to rebuild the pipeline of engineering students from California Community Colleges to the UC and CSU systems.

In this General Session, Amelito will share his story in hopes to inspire others. He had a problem. He was teaching high level engineering courses and was having trouble getting enough students. So, without more students Amelito might have to find another job. Today he will share with you how Confer helped him save the Cañada College Engineering Program, increase student success, Oh! and save his job too.

  • Faces of Online Teaching - Have you developed a new approach to teaching online or solving an issue with online education?  Software use, ideas for assignments/activities, philosophies, and other ideas that build community and relationships in online course environments. Here's the track for you to share your accomplishments.
  • Universal Access - Accessibility, learning styles, etc.
  • Online Teaching Effective Practices - Teaching practices that work 
  • Support Services & Resources - Student Services, Library Services, Instructional Design and Faculty Services, and other Teaching/Learning Resources

  • Leadership, Planning & Evaluation - Online learning program issues, authentication, regulations, policies, and strategies
